Jellyfish (Medusozoa) are an ancient species of soft-bodied (gelatinous) animals with tentacles that sting. They are used both to capture prey and as a defense mechanism. They are of the Phylum Cnidaria, Family . Jellyfish thrive in both warm and cold waters, along currents, in coastal areas and in deep water. They have a lifespan of one year.
